The international VAT agencies' industrial organisation
The International VAT Association, or simply IVA was founded in 1993.
Today IVA consists of 50 companies from more than 20 countries, which in turn represent the many thousands of companies that are customers of the different IVA members.
IVA is the international VAT agencies' spokesentity for dealing with foreign authorities within the area of VAT refunding. The purpose is to establish closer connections and increase understanding between VAT agencies and the authorities.
Furthermore, the IVA is the international VAT agencies' industrial organisation and thus the forum for debate and exchange of knowledge on VAT legislation and the actual execution of VAT refunds in the individual countries.
Another purpose of the IVA is to offer members the opportunity to exchange ideas and information in the area of international VAT refunding as well as discuss ways of co-operation.
The members meet twice a year for the so-called IVA Meetings with a typical duration of two days.
The meetings always take place in a new country, and often the customs and tax authorities of the country are invited to the meetings to discuss different VAT matters directly with the IVA members. |
