Route planning and calculation

The final decision as to what routes / roads must be used by your special transport lies of course with the individual countries' authorities and police.

PLEASE NOTE: Most foreign authorities insist on in advance receiving - when filing the application for a transport permit - a detailed indication of the route which you as forwarding company intend to use to carry out the special and/or heavy goods transport.

Therefore we kindly ask you to - together with your order for us on your behalf to apply for a transport permit - also to enclose an indication of the route that you - in your best opinion - consider being realistic for carrying out the transport.

Some foreign authorities will be able and willing to advice and indicate an even more correct route than the one you have chosen yourself. However, there are also other foreign authorities insisting on, that it is you personally who is responsible for the route being without riscs.

We would be pleased to assist you with the preparation of a route that is 100% secure. This would be done using escort cars in the respective countries for test driving the chosen route and this way verifying whether or not the route will do for your specific special and/or heavy goods transport. Such a test of course is associated with costs which, if applicable, we would have to charge you.

We would like to offer you the opportunity to get an overview in advance of possible routes and distances as well as current weather conditions in the regions travelled through by your transport.

When it comes to performing pre-analyses of possible routes and distances for your special transport per truck, Nikosax can recommend this route planner

In this connection PLEASE REMEMBER that even the best internet based route planner typically will NOT consider that the route is needed for carrying out of a special and/or heavy goods transport (e.g. there is no guarantee that the route suggested by the route planner will also be useable in practice).

The best weather forecast for countries / regions in the world is probably found through this weather forecast links page.

It is well known, that the diesel prices change constantly and vary quite a lot from country to country.

On this web site you will, however, get a fast and simple overview of diesel prices in the European countries (International Road Transport Union's weekly scheme with average retail prices).

Last but not least, it is nice to be certain as to the different countries' latest regulations in the area of drivers' hours and rest periods as well as weight and dimensions.
